Yarner Woods and Templer Way
Yarner Wood became England’s first National Nature Reserve in 1952 and has been managed for biodiversity ever since. It’s a wonderful mix of oak, holly, hawthorn and other native species. We start on Haytor Down and walk down beech lined footpath to the Templer Way which we follow for a while into the wood, just above one of the old mine shafts. From here we wind our way through the woods, emerging at the top end by North Lodge from where we walk back along the lane to the start point.
Booking is required for this walk. For further information, contact your guide using the details to the left.
