Walk to Fur Tor across the high moorland
Sunday 25th February by popular demand for a Sunday walk to Fur Tor.! Join Simon Dell on this walk across the open high moor. We will start at Baggator Gate which does not have much parking available so it might be best to car share if you can. Leaving a car in Peter Tavy near the Church is probably best in order to save space at Baggator Gate.Bring a hot drink and packed lunch. Wellies with thick socks are okay or waterproof walking boots are also good because the route can be wet. We will visit a number of Dartmoor-365 places and pages from the book by John Hayward if you are a 365-er! (J5 Baggator. J6 Limbroso Cairne. J7 the Upper Walkham, J8 Tavy Hole. H8 Fur Tor) If time allows and visibility is good we will see if we can find the head of the River Tavy where it trickles from the peat! We will meet at 10am and finish the walk hopefully about 5pm but please do not book to come if you are time critical and can not be late off the moor. Bring a torch with you just in case – it’s a long walk. of about 10 miles (16 Kms) of rough terrain. Please book by email for a place on this walk. Limited to 20 walkers. Please check this website on the night before to check if anything has changed or cancelled if bad weather occurs.
Booking is required for this walk. For further information, contact your guide using the details to the left.
