Every walk provides clear information about the route being taken including a map of the starting point, as well as information about cost, booking and if you can bring your dog. If you have any questions about the activity, you can also contact the guide for further information

01/09/2019 | Walking the Okehampton Ranges Moderate walk

Walk overview

Join Lt Col Tony Clark, previously Commandant on a walk of about 8 miles around the Dartmoor Military Training Area to see some of the features of the area including the target rail track and other historical features associated with the First World War and other conflicts, and hear how they were used by the soldiers.

Booking is required for this walk as group size is limited.

Parking is available at the camp. Drive to the main gate of the camp and take with you some photo I.D like a Driving Licence to gain entry. NO I.D. NO Entry NO exception NO walk! You will be directed to the parking on the parade ground by the security gate staff.

This walk of about 7.5 miles over tracks and open moorland will take us to Row Tor, West Mill Tor, Yes Tor, High Willhays, Dinger Tor and East Mill Tor.

01/09/2019 | Tavistock Ramblers Interpretation of the Mary Michael Pilgrimage Route – Part 2: Belstone to Chagford Strenuous walk

Walk overview

Join Paul Brookes from Tavistock Ramblers for a linear walk of between 12 and 14 miles (depending on preferences on the day) from Belstone to Chagford via belstone Cleave, Cosdon stone rows, Throwleigh, Gidleigh (extension to Scorhill Circle and Kestor), Murchington, R.Teign. The walk is over racks, open moorland, green lanes, quiet lanes, one stream crossing, ascents and descents, some uneven ground.

It will be necessary to leave some cars at Belstone (free parking) and relocate others to Chagford (See Pay & Display board on arrival – parking is charged differently on a Sunday).

Abbots Way Walk is a challenging self guided 23 mile walk from Buckfast Abbey to Tavistock College, Crowndale Rd , Tavistock, PL19 8DD across Southern Dartmoor to be walked in teams of 3 – 8. Open to all ages, but teams of under 18 year-olds must have a team manager aged over 18, who does not need to walk the event but must be present on the day.
