Every walk provides clear information about the route being taken including a map of the starting point, as well as information about cost, booking and if you can bring your dog. If you have any questions about the activity, you can also contact the guide for further information

22/08/2020 | Fur Tor Trek Strenuous walk

Walk overview

Join Shona for an arduous day trek to Fur Tor, one of the most remote areas of the moor. En route we will take in Beardown Tors, Lydford Tor, Devil Tor, Beardown Man standing stone and returning via Tavy Head and Conies Down. Uneven and boggy terrain will be encountered.

Please wear robust footwear and bring waterproofs and food and drink for the day. For capable 16 yrs and older only. Under 18s to be accompanied by an adult.

Walk overview

A gentle guided walk along part of the Wray Trail looking at the natural world of rivers and woodland and the human world of a railway and nature conservation. The trail is a mix of tarmac and hard gravel.

Walk overview

A walk along tracks and open moorland visiting Sand Pits, Row Tor, West Mill Tor and Yes Tor, High Willhays, Dinger and East Mill Tors. Our route will involve several ascents and descents and is not for the fainthearted as we explore much of the higher ground of northern Dartmoor and hopefully be rewarded with wonderful views.

23/08/2020 | Visit the White Tor Neolithic Settlement with the National Park Archaeologist Moderate walk

Walk overview

Meet at Cox Tor Car Park at 10am and we will walk north to White Tor to visit and discuss the new interpretations and features of the Neolithic evidence there with Lee Bray, National Park archaeologist, who recently surveyed the area. We will walk back for mid-afternoon via other historic sights on the way.

24/08/2020 | Ten Tors Ramble Strenuous walk

Walk overview

Commencing at Four Winds Car Park, we will walk an anti-clockwise circular route visiting the following 10 Tors: Hollow, Rundlestone, Little Mis, Great Mis, Lynch, White, Cox, Roos Tor, Great Staple and Mid Staple. This is a fairly tough walk and expect to cover ground that is rocky, boggy and steep in places, plus a river crossing or two thrown in for good measure!

24/08/2020 | A walk through Dartmoor’s past, present and future Strenuous walk

Walk overview

A guided walk from Challacombe Farm and the ruins of a mediaeval hamlet, past the remains of a tin mine to Soussons Forest. This route uses gravel forest tracks and rough, bumpy, grassy paths. This walk is aimed at people using mobility scooters but all walkers welcome. For mobility walkers this is a strenuous route; for walkers it is easy-to-moderately challenging. (Parking in field at Challacombe Farm. Free of charge. This is off the minor road that runs between the B3212 and Widdecombe. Meet 10.30 for 11am start.)

Walk overview

This walk will take in views of the notorious Fox Tor Mire, as portrayed in Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound Of the Baskervilles as Great Grimpen Mire. We will also visit Childe’s Tomb where the famous legend took place. The terrain will be testing at times and wet under foot.
