Saturn & the Stars – Walk, Talk & Telescopes
Join Dartmoor’s Daughter and Dartmoor Skies for an astronomical adventure in the heart of the moorland. With Saturn visible in the sky, and a host of other astronomical wonders to enjoy, this promises to be a memorable night. In clear weather, we will walk together to Scorhill stone circle and Dartmoor Skies will guide you through the visible constellations and set up telescopes so you can explore the night sky at your leisure.
MEETING PLACE (for everyone, whatever the weather): Gidleigh Village Hall, Gidleigh, TQ13 8HR (Don’t rely on your Sat Nav to get you to the exact location) Grid Ref: SX672 883. From Gidleigh Village Hall, we will then organise car-shares up to Scorhill where parking is on private land and very limited. Please do not park here unless directed by event organisers. Thank you.
If the weather isn’t favourable, our back up plan will be tea and talks with slides in the village hall.
What to bring: Snacks, drinks, sturdy walking boots, plenty of warm layers, waterproof jacket & trousers, (head)torches with red film covers or rear bicycle lamps. Parking is available at Gidleigh Village Hall, but it is appreciated if visitors could carshare. Distance 1.5 miles.
Booking and payment is required in advance for this walk. To do this, contact your guide using the details to the left.
