Meeting on Blisland Village Green, Bodmin Moor (SX 100 732). Route via De Lank Quarries, St Breward for lunch (In pub or packed lunch in the churchyard), Lady Down, Delford Bridge, Jubilee rock and the Beacon. About 9 miles.

Walk overview

Mustard Seed Walks are going on a stroll along Hamel Down. From Widecombe-on-the-Moor we will ascend onto the Hamel Down ridge. We look forward to fine weather and superb views! Thanks to the very excellent John Lowe who took me for a most interesting walk here, we will contemplate the sacrifice paid by our heroic airman, many of who lost their life on this Down during the Second World War. We will return to Widecombe via road and lanes before maybe enjoying a cuppa in The Cafe on the Green.

24/08/2019 | Walking the Okehampton Ranges Moderate walk

Walk overview

Join Lt Col Tony Clark, previously Commandant on a walk around the Dartmoor Military Training Area to see some of the features of the area including the target rail track and other historical features associated with the First World War and other conflicts, and hear how they were used by the soldiers. The walk covers a distance of 8 miles over tracks and uneven ground.

Booking is essential.

Drive to the main gate of the camp and take with you some photo I.D like a Driving Licence to gain entry.NO I.D. NO Entry NO exception NO walk! You will be directed to the parking on the parade ground by the security gate staff.

Walk overview

Informative 2 mile walk by way of uneven, uphill grass tracks to WW2 RAF Bomber crash site on Hameldown. Full details of the archaeological investigative research will be shared during the walk.

Parking by prior arrangement with walk leader. Although we expect to be back by dark it might be a good idea if you could take a torch with you for safely if it is getting dim at the end of the walk.

This guided walk of just under 6 miles will look at the varying habitats of Yarner Wood and the Bovey Valley and the human history of the area. It will be on gravel tracks with some gradients, and small amounts of heathland paths.

For disabled ramblers this walk has been categorised as difficulty level 2, although there are some sections which are considered level 3.

26/08/2019 | Accessible Walk – for Mobility Scooters – Fernworthy Reservoir & Forest Moderate walk

Walk overview

A walk of approximately 6.5 miles alongside part of this pretty reservoir home to birds such as Heron, Snipe & Grebe, then through Fernworthy Forest. We can find a Bronze Age stone circle, burial cairns & stone rows within the forest which is mostly coniferous. It’s peaceful and tranquil and has occasional views of moorland. There are ponies, cattle and sheep at various times and you might just spot a deer. Paths are a mixture of wide forestry roads and narrow, bumpy and muddy tracks.

Take some change with you for the car park charge.

For the disabled rambler this activity is considered Category 3 difficulty – rough tracks with some steep sections. For walkers it is considered to be of moderate difficulty.
