Mustard Seed Walks will set out from Postbridge to find the waterfall on the East Dart River. We will then go wild towards Sittaford Tor, finding three stone circles. The walk back to Postbridge will take us over Hartland Tor.

Mustard Seed Walks Slow & Short walk will try again to complete this delightful walk from Bel Tor Corner car park over Sharp Tor, Yar Tor and Cornwood Down, with the wealth of historic points of interest on the way. Our last attempt was in storm force winds and increasing rain. Let’s hope for calm and sunshine so we can enjoy a leisurely slow walk.

Mustard Seed Walks are going on a stroll along Hamel Down. From Widecombe-on-the-Moor we will ascend onto the Hamel Down ridge. We look forward to fine weather and superb views! Thanks to the very excellent John Lowe who took me for a most interesting walk here, we will contemplate the sacrifice paid by our heroic airman, many of who lost their life on this Down during the Second World War. We will return to Widecombe via road and lanes before maybe enjoying a cuppa in The Cafe on the Green.

24/08/2019 | Okehampton Battle Camp Visit Easy walk

Walk overview

During the morning we will visit the Okehampton Battle Camp museum and look at artefacts of the military use of the Dartmoor during the First World War. Lt Col Tony Clark, previously Commandant of the Dartmoor Training Area, and the present Commandant , Lt Col Crispin d’Apice, will give an explanation with illustrations of how troops trained and lived before deploying to the trenches.

Booking is essential.

Drive to the main gate of the camp and take with you some photo I.D like a Driving Licence to gain entry.NO I.D. NO Entry. NO exception. NO walk!
You will be directed to the parking on the parade ground by the security gate staff.

Walk overview

Join Lt Col Tony Clark, previously Commandant on a walk around the Dartmoor Military Training Area to see some of the features of the area including the target rail track and other historical features associated with the First World War and other conflicts, and hear how they were used by the soldiers. The walk covers a distance of 8 miles over tracks and uneven ground.

Booking is essential.
