01/05/2021 | Navigation for Beginners Weekend
This course will give you the foundation skills to competently navigate and route plan on moorland. Day one covers the basic skills of map reading and using a compass, practising each technique several times. We do this in the course of a walk of about 5 miles. We end the day by planning a route on open moorland for the following day. On day two we apply all your new skills to our planned route, which will be about 7 miles long, consolidating what you learnt the previous day. This course assumes no previous knowledge so is suitable for complete beginners. If you have previously learnt some navigation skills and wish to refresh them, you are equally welcome.
We will be a small group and keep our distance from each other in accordance with government guidelines. If you develop Covid symptoms or need to self-isolate, we will offer you another date or a refund.
