Challenging walk from Postbridge to Cut Hill
Today Simon is taking an A Level student (Faye) out to obtain some peat samples for her A Level Geography Course at Cut Hill – the most remote place on Dartmoor. Because of where Faye lives, the easiest place for the walk is from Postbridge. This is a substantial walk covering 10 miles of rough terrain. Simon is happy to open up this all-day walk to anyone who has always wanted to go to Cut Hill and Fur Tor but not had the courage to do it alone! The only cost is £5 per person to help subsidise the cost for Faye. It isn’t fair to charge a student the guide hire fee for a day so she is happy to allow the public along too ! We will take her and her Dad out to Cut Hill. She has never walked there before. We will deliver her to the site then if the weather is okay and safe we will leave her there to do her samples and stroll over to Fur Tor for lunch. Then we will return to collect her and back to Postbridge for about 5pm. Wear good footwear for wet terrain – well fitting wellies with big socks are okay if you wish. Good waterproofs and lunch. If the weather is clear at Cut Hill we can see Portland Bill off Dorset and The Lizard off Cornwall !! In my opinion this is the best 365 degree view on Dartmoor and a rare chance for that long awaited walk!! Expressions of interest will be requested by EMail to Simon so he knows how many to expect. Also check your EMails after 7am to make sure the walk is going ahead onthe day in case of bad weather. Just bring a fiver on the day!!
Booking is required for this walk. For further information, contact your guide using the details to the left.
