12/01/2019 | A Handful of Tors! Strenuous walk

Walk overview

Our January Mustard Seed Walk will visit a number of popular Tors in the Haytor area. From the Saddle Tor car park (the Westernmost one) we will climb Saddle Tor, then down to Holwell Tor before descending to cross Becka Brook on the new footbridge. A steep climb to Holwell Lawn will take us to the track that will lead us to Bonehill Rocks. Heading north to Top Tor we will then dip down and up onto Rippon Tor to see if we can find the unfinished stone cross there.

Our Mustard Seed Walks often pop into the Fox Tor cafe in Princetown for a cuppa, and we may well do this time, but we will head into the wilds of the South Moors to find the real Tor, also visiting the Ducks Pool letterbox. This walk will take us from Peat Cot past Nuns Cross Farm and Plym Ford up Gnats Hill and over some possibly tough and wet terrain.

02/03/2019 | Northern Tors and Cosdon Hill Strenuous walk

Walk overview

This Mustard Seed Walk will be slightly long than usual, about 8.5 miles. It will take us over some stunning terrain. From Belstone village we will climb up to Belstone Tor then follow the ridge via Higher Tor to Oke Tor. We will then descend to Taw Ford – be prepared for a paddle across! then we will head for the stone circle near Little Hound Tor. We’ll then head north to climb Cosdon Hill, descending on the other side oven wild moorland to return to the village.

Walk overview

Note: this walk replaces original date of 6 Apr.
Mustard Seed Walks will take a stroll from Dunnabridge car park (over the bridge) up to have a good old laugh at Laughter Tor. We will then carry on up to the great viewing platform (weather permitting) of Bellever Tor. After this we will have a look at some Bronze Age remains down towards Kraps Ring and then down to the Believer village visitors centre. A gentle stroll through the woods will nicely complete this walk.
